Where do you work?

I work for IBM, specifically running product management projects for the marketing and digital sales group headquartered in New York City.

How do you interact with screens on a daily basis?

I’m in front of screens pretty much all day every day. Some days are meetings from 9 to 6 straight, so those days I’m staring at my laptop or a TV screen reviewing material and taking notes. Other days consist of more heads-down work where I am primarily using my laptop to conduct research, put together presentations, and facilitate meetings.

What led you to Felix Gray?

The first month at work was really tough on my eyes, which was something I had never experienced before. I was absolutely a victim of Digital Eye Strain, consistently leaving work with droopy, red, itchy eyes, blurred vision, and headaches that I couldn’t shake, lasting well after the working day was over. I turned to Felix Gray in September of 2016 and my symptoms dramatically decreased, if not, vanished completely.

Productivity means…

The ability to be able to focus on a task or multiple tasks without getting distracted by things going on around you.

Happiness is…

The combination of many feelings. I think a mix of feeling stress-free, carefree, open-minded, fulfilled, and having an upbeat attitude generally leads to happiness.

What is your ideal work environment?

My ideal work environment blends active collaboration space and quiet heads-down individual working space. I think an active collaboration space is necessary to foster a sense of teamwork and to encourage employees to communicate with each other to solve problems and innovate effectively. On the other hand, quiet heads-down individual working space is necessary for everyone to feel like they have their own area to zone-in without being disturbed.

How do you stay focused?

I stay focused by listening to music or podcasts when I work to drown out background noise and really focus on the activity at hand. I also break down my larger assignments into micro tasks in order to better build momentum and track how much progress I’ve made in a given day or week.

What’s your favorite thing to do online?

My favorite thing to do online is to read articles about my favorite sports teams, TV shows, and movies. There’s new and interesting content coming out every day, so whenever I have a free moment I’m always trying to read and catch up on what’s new.
