This file was licensed for use under Creative Commons 4.0, according to the licence information on http://inaturalist.ca/observations/3903168. I am not going to request a reversal of your decisions regarding the three images I uploaded on 2 September but I would like a fuller explanation, the other two images had Creative Common 3.0 licences. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quetzal1964 (talk • contribs) 06:25, 03 September 2016 (UTC) Read through the licences and I understand, no need for a response.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Quetzal1964 (talk • contribs) 06:39, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Animalparty, Can you please do a cropped version of this files to only show the images of American actor and director Norman Foster and American actor Mort Mills (just crop to show the entire left side of both images).—Preceding unsigned comment was added by 190.57.34.195 (talk) 23:37, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:Gen. Pavel visits ISTC-083 (25259382642).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Category discussion warning

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Digital commonwealth and other GLAM files to Commons upload tool(s)[edit]

- [1]

Is there a way to mass upload files (such as the one you uploaded above) from digitalcommonwealth.org or other similar websites. I have used the flickr to commons tool. Is there a similar tool for GLAM websites?

Thank you, --Ooligan (talk) 20:31, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ooligan: Aside from Flickr2Commons I'm not very handy with mass uploading. Commons:GLAMwiki Toolset and Commons:Pattypan might prove helpful. You can also propose bot assisted mass uploads at Commons:Batch uploading, where the community can evaluate feasibility and determine some best practices (e.g. which template and license to use, how best to transfer metadata, etc.) before implementation. And lastly, anecdotally, it appears that the Boston Public Library Flickr stream adds a needless, more restrictive CC license to public domain media (e.g. here), even though they state "no known copyright restrictions," in what resembles Copyfraud. Requiring attribution, and/or a link to a CC license, is not a requirement for faithful scans of public domain images, especially in the US where "sweat of the brow" doctrine doesn't confer any additional copyright authorship to the person scanning or uploading a work (see {{PD-Scan}} and Commons:Threshold of originality). Cheers, --Animalparty (talk) 22:17, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reply.
In "faithful scans of public domain images"- Is a download or screenshot on a PC of a PD-expired image a faithful scan? Or do I need to do I need to use scanner equipment?
Also, can I take a photo of an original PD photo and release for use it as PD? Similarly, Can I take a photo of a PD-expired photo that has been published in a book and release it as PD?
Thanks, --Ooligan (talk) 00:43, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
