Template:Y-DNAEdit

No sources quoted for this information, it appears to serve little other purpose than to make dubious "racial" categories look "official" when the fact is that there is no verification possible on this chart. (talk) 14:01, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Based on information below,I struck my delete vote and will strongly suggest that template should include footnotes, and this template should be removed from any pseudoscience scientific racism categories. Abzeronow (talk) 16:55, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
Symbol keep vote.svg Keep Data was from English Wikipedia template. (w:en:Template:Y-DNA). If you think it is needed to show detailed source, you can put link to the website of ISOGG (International Society of Genetic Genealogy https://isogg.org/tree/index.html ). Sorry for being rude but it's clear that you don't know what haplogroups are. That's not race. --Was a bee (talk) 15:57, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
Race is precisely how the categories this was recently applied to are used, such as "negroid". -- (talk) 17:37, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
Oh, I see. This template is for Y-DNA haplogroups. Not for, for example, mtDNA haplogroup, HLA haplotypes, or races. These all concepts are closely related through history of human genetic evolution, but not the same thing. Different from each other. So I don't see it is meaningful to use this template at other pages. I agree that this template should be basically used for Y-chromosome haplogroups pages. --Was a bee (talk) 17:09, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

Kept: still heavily in use. --JuTa 21:18, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
