Welcome to File Requests

This page is a forum for requesting files from other Commons users for pages in Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia articles. Recent sections with no replies for 180 days and sections tagged with {{section resolved|1=--~~~~}} may be archived; for old discussions, see the archives.

Please help translating this page!

Adding a request[edit]

  • First, try to find a file on your own (see help on public domain image resources.)
  • For a file of a specific location, it may be possible to contact someone near to the location and request that they take a photo. The nearest photographer tool can help to locate users who are near to specific locations.
  • Link to a page where you want the image to be placed.
  • If possible, include an external link to a picture about the request.
  • Sign your request in case there are questions (use ~~~~).

Dogor[edit]

Hi everyone. Could somebody find an image of Dogor that can be uploaded here? I tried to find one with a free license, but I was out of luck. Maybe someone with more experience will be able to find it.

There used to be a photo on commons (File:W6ODPAAVAII6VAGW2DFHABZHH4.jpg) but it was removed because it was missing permission.

Thank you in advance!

Susan Tolsky[edit]

Hey everyone! I could use some help. I would really like to include a photo of the actress Susan Tolsky in her article. I'm not at all experienced with all this public domain stuff. Could this one be used? It has no copyright markings on the back and it was taken in 1972 or 1973. I would really appreciate some help, thanks! PancakeMistake (talk) 11:56, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Quite possible that it can be used. Ruslik (talk) 07:39, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Wincott, Bob Gunton, and David Dastmalchian[edit]

Notable actors Michael Wincott, Bob Gunton, and rising star David Dastmalchian need photos for their respective articles. I've done my best to search, but I cannot find any under acceptable licenses.. Edit: I did find a high school photo of Bob Gunton (https://i1.wp.com/www.entertainmentwise.com/wp-content/uploads/index1-481.jpg?fit=210%2C240&ssl=1), which is more than likely Public Domain, from where he attended Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, California, but I can't find the specific yearbook it's from for free online. Derich Berck by Hans Holbein from Google Arts and Culture[edit]

Hi. Google Arts and Culture has a very high resolution version of the painting we have at a much lower resolution as File:Derich Berck, by Hans Holbein.jpg. I don't know how to download them, but many of these Google-scanned art pieces are on here at Category:Gigapixel images from the Google Art Project; if someone could get this painting at extremely high resolution onto Commons in the proper way that would be great (I would love to know how you're supposed to do this too please). Thanks, DemonDays64 (talk) 08:04, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you are on holiday in Yumurtalık could you take a picture of the construction of Emba Hunutlu power station?[edit]

If you are nearby it would be great if you could take a picture of the only coal-fired power station under construction in Turkey and hopefully the last Chidgk1 (talk) 10:21, 5 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request for photograph of Abel Landén's villa on Iso Vasikkasaari[edit]

The article w:Iso Vasikkasaari mentions "probably the most unusual building in Espoo", a private villa commissioned by banker Abel Landén, resembling a Greek temple to the god Poseidon. However neither the article or the Finnish article it was translated from contain any picture of this villa. There should be one to illustrate what is so unusual about this building.

The villa itself cannot be visited just like that as it's a private building on private property. An exterior photograph taken from a passing boat or ship will suffice just fine.

The coordinates for the island as a whole can be found in the article: https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?pagename=Iso_Vasikkasaari&params=60_8_24_N_24_45_40_E_

The villa itself is in the extreme northwestern corner: https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?pagename=Iso_Vasikkasaari&params=60_8_34.6_N_24_45_27.5_E_

Réunion hotspot animation[edit]

I have come to read two articles in geophysics by Quanta Magazine each containing a great interactive animation of a geological structure accompanying the text, the respective wikipedia article for one of these structures has similar animation but not the article for the other one which contains only a image of a volcano but not of the relevant geological structure so an animation would greatly help illustrate that article.

Large low-shear-velocity provinces quanta magazine wikipedia
Réunion hotspot quanta magazine wikipedia (no animation)

-The animation for the Large low-shear-velocity provinces in wikipedia was uploaded by a user who hasn't been active since 2017

-The animation of the Réunion hotspot in quanta magazine was created with sketchfab

Boojum pattern on Helium-3[edit]

The article Boojum (superfluidity) is about a visual pattern which arises in physics but contains no image and google only gives results related with boojums patterns in liquid crystals for which the article on them has plenty of images but I can't find one for Helium-3 (copyleft or copyright) which is as the text explain where term was coined, the closest is reference 3 by David Mermin which contains some drawings.

Better quality of The Music Man poster[edit]

Hello! I uploaded File:The Music Man poster, 1957.jpg which I am pretty confident is PD to replace enwiki's photo and it's not horrific but it is still pretty compressed and has a watermark, both of which I imperfectly have tried to clean up a bit. I am wondering if anyone can find a better scan of the poster? Thanks! DemonDays64 (talk) 02:06, 1 January 2022 (UTC) (please ping on reply)[reply]

  • @DemonDays64: Hi! I am trying to restore your image using certain techniques, so I have a couple of questions for you:
    • Were the lines on the poster originally "broken", or they need to be full?
    • Are there any points on the original poster that were lost by the compression?

Answer if you are able, and sorry for any grammar mistakes in questions - english is not my native language.

Finnish Continuation War commemorative medals[edit]

I've been working through the Finnish army corps of the en:Continuation War (see e.g. en:Finnish III Corps (Continuation War) and en:Finnish VI Corps (Continuation War)). As far as I can tell, these units did not have dedicated shoulder patches (such as those used by e.g. en:X Corps (United States)) which makes it difficult to find good imagery for the infoboxes. What these corps have, instead, are commemorative crosses such as the Aunuksen risti of the VI Corps (as shown in this CC-BY-ND image) or the Pohjois-Vienan risti of the III Corps (shown in this CC-BY-ND image). Since the no derivatives licenses prevent me from using these otherwise excellent images, I'm asking for help in sourcing Commons-compatible versions. Further non-free references can be browsed on e.g. this website. Thanks, -Ljleppan (talk) 09:17, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The New Waiting Room Picture of Ogyu Station (荻生駅) and Higashi Yatsuo (東八尾駅) in Toyama Prefecture (富山県), Japan[edit]

It seems that Ogyu Station has been request for nearly 3 years but still no one can take or find a CC photo of the new Station/platform house.

Also the reconstruction of Higashi Yatsuo Station's waiting room has been done for 3 years and again no any updated.

Highway Shields for the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Red Hill Valley Parkway in Hamilton, ON[edit]

If anyone with graphic design skills could recreate the highway shield for the Linc and RHVP in Hamilton, Ontario, that would be greatly appreciated as that would enhance their respective Wikipedia pages greatly.

This coming COMICON Toronto; need photographs of Degrassi High guests[edit]

Hello! I edit a lot of pages related to the show Degrassi High. A few of the actors could do with better infobox images on their pages, and it happens that three of them are to appear at the upcoming COMICON in Toronto on March 19th; Pat Mastroianni, Stacie Mistysyn and Amanda Stepto. I've been looking for higher quality and updated images for these guys for months, so would somebody on this site who is already going with a camera be able to photograph these guys at the panel? Women engaged in oil wrestling?[edit]

Hello, it looks like (Turkish) oil wrestling is also practiced by women, and there are female competitions. To illustrate the fact it would be nice to get an image of female oil wrestlers in the typical outfit. Note: I am not talking about the erotically-inclined showfights showing women in bikinis, or nude women wrestling. I really mean women in the typical combat dresses (which resemble one-piece swimsuits). -Eptalon (talk) 19:45, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Puffball skirt[edit]

can I speak to the manager haircut[edit]

wikt:can I speak to the manager haircut. The description on Wiktionary is "a layered, asymmetrical bob with blond highlights". The closest I could find is File:Short blonde hair with highlights.jpg. This may be adequate for a rough depiction, but if you look up the term on DuckDuckGo or Google, the hairstyle being referred to seems slightly different, but I am far from an expert on hairstyles. If my nitpicky perception is wrong, or if no more precise image can be found, then I'd happily default to that other one since it's pretty close, as I said. 70.172.194.25 21:47, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

cedar closet[edit]

wikt:cedar closet. Nothing relevant with this label on Commons. 70.172.194.25 22:16, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Possible photo: I guess this is a decent cedar closet picture. 70.172.194.25 15:24, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

chain binder[edit]

wikt:chain binder. Searching on DuckDuckGo or Google reveals that this is a very particularly shaped object. 70.172.194.25 22:25, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Possible lead: If this is PD, then Figure 2-4 in [3] is a good photo of a ratchet chain binder. I also found an illustration of what I believe to be a lever chain binder (the other main type) in [4]. 70.172.194.25 15:26, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have some doubts about the authorship of the images in this PDF (some have extraneous watermarks, and this Figure 2-4 looks like it was taken from some online sale). For safety, I uploaded a few cropped screenshots from YouTube videos, which are freely licensed, and the proposed illustration from 1912: File:Chain binder.jpg, File:Chain binders.jpg, File:Chain binder in use.jpg, File:Load binder.pngPius (talk) 10:51, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

chef's kiss[edit]

wikt:chef's kiss. File:Chef icon.svg is pretty good, and I'll default to using that in the absence of anything better. But an image where the fingers are closer to the lips would be ideal. That seems to be what you get when searching on Google or DuckDuckGo. Without that aspect, it's pretty much just the basic OK symbol. 70.172.194.25 00:41, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

brouilleur[edit]

wikt:brouilleur. Note that I'm referring to the English term for a bowl-like device related to absinthe, not the French word for "jammer" which brings up images like File:Jammersprocom-jammer-b97-2.jpg on Google. 70.172.194.25 00:58, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Brachiaria ramosa[edit]

Brachiaria ramosa, vernacular name browntop millet. Apparently a common crop in South Asia. 70.172.194.25 01:03, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Possible lead: Photos with CC BY license on iNaturalist: [5]. Note that Urochloa ramosa is the same species, per [6] and various other sources. 70.172.194.25 08:45, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

citrumelo[edit]

Citrumelo, wikt:citrumelo, X Citroncirus spp. Searching for "Citroncirus" does bring some illustrations up, but I think these are for citranges which are a distinct cross per Citrus taxonomy. 70.172.194.25 01:30, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

conduit bender[edit]

wikt:conduit bender. There appear to be two meanings for this, although Wiktionary only has the first currently:

  1. A tool with a thin handle: [7]
  2. A bulky object on wheels: [8]

I don't know what if anything the connection between these tools is. Currently, we only have one image with the tag "conduit bender", File:Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant Immobilized Cell Bioreactor Area (12795582483).jpg, which is referring to the second meaning. It's not a bad photo, although the angle and framing may not be ideal for illustrating the concept. We have nothing for the first sense AFAICT. 70.172.194.25 01:59, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, immediately after posting this I realized that in the existing Commons photo there is actually a very long lever, although it's not too prominent due to the perspective (it extends away from the camera). So maybe this is the sense Wiktionary is referencing. Or maybe this is the conduit that is being bent, not a distinct lever. Note that in the operation of the object #1 the conduit is placed similarly: [9]. So, reconsidering, I think Wiktionary's sense is still #1 as that object involves a lever/handle and a conduit, but I could be wrong. 70.172.194.25 02:03, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Possible leads (for #1): [10] (seems fine), [11] (shows its use, but one cannot discern the tool itself as well). 70.172.194.25 07:52, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

desktop mascot[edit]

wikt:desktop mascot. Might be difficult to find something existing that's not copyrighted, since the phenomenon generally involves the use of anime characters. But maybe someone can make one of Wikipe-tan. Reminds me of BonziBuddy... 70.172.194.25 04:07, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disney point[edit]

wikt:Disney point. Note that we have Category:Pointing and even Category:Palm pointing, and this is a similar gesture. I also looked through Category:Two-finger gestures. This photo has the right general finger placement, but better examples could be found/produced (and the description indicates that the intended context was quite, uh, different). 70.172.194.25 04:25, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

donkey stool[edit]

wikt:donkey stool, also known as a 'drawing bench' and various other terms. I think this is something like [12], not [13]. 70.172.194.25 04:39, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not ideal, but there's a 1975 patent for "artist's horse" which may be in the public domain per {{PD-US-patent}}, and this has an illustration: [14], [15]. The illustrations in these patents may be even better, but I don't know whether they're PD: [16], [17].
It's surprisingly hard to find a free photo of the object, even though there are lots of non-free ones. 70.172.194.25 19:47, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Aplatophis chauliodus[edit]

Aplatophis chauliodus, vernacular name fangtooth snake-eel. 70.172.194.25 15:53, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

finish nail[edit]

wikt:finish nail, also known as 'finishing nail'. A specific type of nail (fastener). Home Depot explains: [18]. 70.172.194.25 17:36, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Figure 161 here at least illustrates the concept, but I'd prefer a photo. 70.172.194.25 15:55, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

flooring nailer[edit]

wikt:flooring nailer. Tool. This is a specific subcategory of Category:Nail guns that seems different from the photos currently listed, cf. Google Images. 70.172.194.25 21:06, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not ideal, but this 1966 patent has an illustration that seems to be the same tool: [19] (note the angle and how they describe it as "particularly adapted for use in the nailing of hardwood flooring"). 70.172.194.25 20:14, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

half-up half-down[edit]

wikt:half-up half-down. Hairstyle. 70.172.194.25 23:27, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

drømmekage[edit]

w:da:drømmekage, wikt:drømmekage. A specific kind of Danish cake. 70.172.194.25 02:55, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

gajol[edit]

wikt:gajol. A specific brand of Danish licorice. We have a photo of the packaging, but an image of the licorice itself is desired. 70.172.194.25 02:57, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

barracan[edit]

wikt:بركان#Etymology 2, wikt:barracan. A specific thick fabric popular in the Middle East. Originally, but not always nowadays, made of camel wool. 70.172.194.25 03:31, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Aquilaria malaccensis (agarwood) seeds[edit]

wikt:قرنوة‎. 70.172.194.25 03:41, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hlawga (Burmese boat)[edit]

wikt:လှော်ကား. This may be a long shot, since I'm not even able to find non-free images, but I'm sure some representation of it exists somewhere. I'd like confirmation that the boat depicted is a hlawga, since there are various other kinds of ornamented ancient Burmese boats. 70.172.194.25 04:21, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

tripping[edit]

wikt:spænde ben. Based on the usage example at ordnet.dk talking about how it is unsportsmanlike for athletes to do it, intentional tripping may be intended. I saw Category:Tripping but only one of the images really illustrates this action, namely this one, and that is kind of grainy and not of optimal quality (but if nothing better is found, I'd happily use it). I'm surprised there aren't more photos of people tripping as it is a rather basic verb (whether by accident, or by someone else's malice as in the Danish verb). 70.172.194.25 05:01, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mnemonic diagram (Japanese)[edit]

wikt:みはじ. I think they're looking for a diagram like this. Should be possible to replicate from scratch even if no free copy exists already. 70.172.194.25 07:01, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded a new file "File:Mihaji.svg". It is a diagram that is often used in Japanese mathematics education. I hope it helps.--Mugenpman (talk) 14:11, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

kinnikinnick[edit]

wikt:kinnikinnick. I believe sense 1 is requested. If you put "kinnikinnick herb" into Google Images you can see what it looks like. 70.172.194.25 22:43, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LØREN,Alissic and Drop Dead[edit]

Hi everyone. I'm currently working on an article about the South Korean musician LØREN on Wikipedia and I'd like to have some pics of him.

  • A pic from the Paris Fashion Week Show 2022
  • A pic from one of his songs (Empty Trash, Need or All My Friends Are Turning Blue - I would prefer one from All My Friends Are Turning Blue if it's possible)
  • Lastly, one pic of him while he is singing or playing guitar would be really useful.

Also, I'm writing an article about Brazilian musician Alissic. I do not have a specific image to request but any that is recent is OK. A specific one would be if there was a pic of her while she is singing. 3 I think are enough but as many as you can are welcome.

To conclude, for my future project, the logo of the brand Drop Dead and in one picture the symbols of the collections.

To be honest, I would do it on my own but I don't understand all the license things but if I did, I wouldn't have the time to do so. For any questions, you can ask me on my Talk Page on Wikipedia. Or, on my Commons Discussion, but I generally prefer Wikipedia's one because I log in there more often than Commons'. (if you upload something close to that, please inform me on my talk pages) Thank you in advance for everything. Fisforfenia (talk) 16:21, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jordan Clark[edit]

Hi! I need a photo of Jordan Clark. To differentiate her from the football player, she has big red hair 👩🏼‍🦰 Preferably a large(ish) headshot, something pretty and simple. Maybe two so I have options but I'm not all that picky. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CK121119 (talk • contribs) 22:50, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Putin with a Hitler moustache[edit]

Looking for a good quality image of Putin "sporting" a Hitler (toothbrush) moustache. The purpose is to illustrate how the toothbrush is used in society. Examples include: [20][21][22][23]. It's OK if the magazine cover or advertisement is fake. Thanks. -- GreenC (talk) 15:35, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Power Rangers command[edit]

I'd like to request an image of the Power Rangers Command. In reality it a building "House of the Book" designed by architect w:Sidney Eisenshtat located at the Brandeis-Bardin Institute of the AJU Los Angeles, which has appeared in various film and television productions. I think an image of this location could potentially be used in several articles. I found a Creative Commons licensed image at Flickr that might be suitable: https://www.flickr.com/photos/katerw/2585115780/ If this file is acceptable I think uploaded page name should be House of the Book, ie no "the" prefix[25]. If not perhaps there are students from AJU active in the project and they might be willing to provide an image? Thanks in advance. -- 109.76.195.193 02:17, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tanner Novlan[edit]

Hello,

I would like to request an image to be uploaded of model and actor Tanner Novlan. I found that without an image of the actor, his main Wikipedia biography page as well as other articles are severely lacking and do not serve to inform the readers properly on what the content of those pages. An image of the actor would be added to many articles. I wonder if I could get some help in finding an image of the actor that adheres to Wikipedia licensing guidelines and copyright policies? The actor also recently attended the 61st Monte Carlo TV Festival, that occurred this past June, thus I was hoping that an image or a photographer who also attended the event may have uploaded a Creative Commons licensed image. If not from this event, any other image of the actor would be suitable. Thank you so much! — AwardShowFan123 (talk) 21:28, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Loyalty[edit]

Is it possible to get a better picture of the statue in Budapest depicting loyalty than this? Perhaps a drone could take a picture from the same altitude as the statue? The other statues in the series are of course also welcome.) Jonund (talk) 17:09, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
